What is Sing for a Cause?
Sing for a Cause is an American Idol type singing competition to raise money for Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity. This is a fun, family friendly event where we are looking to be entertained along with hearing some great talent who will have a chance to win some prizes. Open auditions for the event will be held at the Dover Mall Saturday September 10 starting at 10am. Pre-registration for the audition is $10 then after September 7th and day of registration is $20. After the auditions, contestants will be narrowed down to 10 contestants in each age category, 6 – 12, 13 – 17, and 18 and over. Each of the 10 contestants will sing during the semi-finals at the Schwartz Center on Saturday September 24, and the finals will be narrowed down to 3 contestants in each age category for the finals on Sunday September 25. The judges are local recorded artists and the winners will have a chance to get four hours of studio recording time.
This event will help Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity raise money to build homes for the Wilson and Harrington families. Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to seek to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build affordable homes, communities, and hope.
